Rare milestone: Five generations of Perth family meet

Laura PondStirling Times

A YOKINE centenarian has celebrated a rare family milestone.

Rose Gibson met her three-month-old great-great-grandson Riley James Zanchetta over Easter, when his mother Caitlin visited from Brisbane.

The visit enabled the firstborn children across the family’s five generations to come together for the first time.

Mrs Gibson was joined by her eldest son Trevor and his daughter, Caitlin’s mother, Bev Lee.

Ms Lee said the Gibson matriarch recently turned 100 and was excited to meet the newest addition to the family.

“Rose was born in South Australia, but grew up in the South West of WA and then moved to Perth with her husband and (two) boys in the 1940s, where she settled in Joondanna,” she said.

“She moved into her Aegis Low Care Residence in Yokine, which she has called home for the past five years.”

The Gibson family now spans five living generations across 100 years.
