THE Halse family of Wembley Downs will get on their bikes to honour their mother Lynda as part of the Ocean Ride for MS next month.

Lynda Halse, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2008, said while the diagnosis came as a shock, the family banded together and were dedicated to fundraising for MSWA.

Lynda’s daughter Rebecca will be participating for the third year in a row.

“My sister Annie and I have called on family and friends to support us in our fundraising efforts,” Rebecca said.

“We have been overwhelmed not only by the generosity people have shown but also by the number of people who have shared their own stories of how family and friends live each day with this horrible condition.”

Perth Wildcat Matthew Knight and West Coast Eagle Josh Kennedy are ambassadors for the event, which starts at Scarborough Beach in the City of Stirling.

The event, which started six years ago, has raised more than $1 million over the years to support West Australians living with MS.
