Scarborough home to first beachside electric vehicle charger

SCARBOROUGH is home to Perth’s first beachside electric vehicle charger.

City of Stirling has launched its first charger at Scarborough Beach, which is free for public use.

Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said he hoped to encourage use of electric vehicles and reward users with free charging.

“Sustainable development is a priority for the City and when the opportunity arose to include sustainable technologies such as the phase two EV charger as part of the Scarborough redevelopment, we jumped at it,” he said.

“There are a number of great benefits to electric vehicles over conventional petrol or diesel cars such as being cheaper to run and maintain, and better for the environment,”

The charger is in the car park south of Scarborough Beach Pool, is available every day and free for at least the first year of operation.
