Scarborough Police ramp up online presence

Kate LeaverStirling Times

SCARBOROUGH Police have ramped up their online presence and are encouraging residents to do the same.

Acting officer in charge Chris Martin said he encouraged residents to follow their Twitter account for live updates from officers.

“The other week we had a high-priority offender jumping fences in Doubleview and I was able to get the message out to our followers immediately,” he said.

“We’ve also had a lot of success with identification of offenders.”

Sgt Martin said officers would now be tweeting live on the road as incidents occurred.

“We are really encouraging people to log in to Twitter to make sure they are aware of what is happening in their local area.”
