Scarborough Sunset Markets making winter debut

Laura PondStirling Times

THE sun has not set on the Scarborough Beach markets, with a variety of food trucks and retailers returning to the foreshore on Saturday.

The Scarborough Sunset Markets Winter Edition will offer the ideal remedy to the winter blues when it runs from May 18 to August 10.

Food vendors will serve up warming eats from around the world, which diners can enjoy inside at The Peach Pit or The Sandbar with a drink purchase.

Browse vintage clothing, handmade candles, dog treats, photography, jewellery, preserves and more at a range of eclectic stalls, and enjoy music by resident DJ Flex.

Scarborough Beach Scout Group will give the markets a wintry twist, lighting up warming fires each week perfect for toasting marshmallows.

In keeping with scouts tradition, the ashes from one week’s event will be used the following week to ensure the fires continue burning.

Further heating things up, mobile sauna Tiny Banya will feature at the inaugural market on May 18.

The markets will also have a cosier feel than its summer counterpart, with stalls positioned around the clock tower and Scarborough Square.

Visit Scarborough Beach on Saturdays from 3pm to 8pm until August 10.
