CHILDREN will be eagerly awaiting the opening of a $1.4 million playground at Scarborough after construction finished on the project.

The Lotterywest-funded Whale Playground is inspired by Noongar culture and features the design of a whale skeleton.

It caters for children of all abilities and will include items such as a roller table and elevated wheelchair accessible sand tables.

The design includes ‘soft fall’ surfacing and ramps for access between play spaces and encourages active play with spaces to dig, climb, build and explore.

Nature Play WA and Inclusion WA provided design input.

The Times understands main construction is finished but final works are being completed.
