A CAR crash has prompted a search in Tuart Hill around 8am this morning.
North West Metropolitan Response Team officers saw a blue Astra leave a car park on French Street in Tuart Hill at speed with a woman driver and a male passenger.
As the Astra entered the intersection of Royal Street it was struck by another vehicle travelling west on Royal Street.
The crash caused extensive damage to both vehicles and the Astra spun off the road and came to a stop.
When officers got close to the intersection they put on emergency lights and sirens to get through traffic to the scene of the crash.
Both right hand tyres of the car were flat and the rear wheel was extremely damaged.
The Astra travelled through several streets before hitting a Western Power box on Federal Street and coming to a stop.
The occupants of the Astra fled on foot.
A woman in her 30s was apprehended and police are continuing to search for the man.
The woman was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for a medical check.
During the arrest of the woman an officer received a needle stick injury to his hand.
A police spokeswoman said the woman arrested was not the prison escapee Janaya Edith Williams who escaped from prison during a visit to King Edward Memorial Hospital.
Police are continuing enquiries.
