‘Silent’ cinema plans unveiled

Staff ReporterStirling Times

The applicant, Sunset Boulevard Beach Club, recently submitted a change in use application for the Manning Street multi-storey car park to use the venue for movie showings.

Headphones streaming the associated soundtrack of the film have been proposed due to proximity of residential dwellings.

Aside from the rooftop cinema, the applicant also sought approval for a cafe, beach club, yoga and pilates sessions as well as function hire. A proposed two-metre high clear perspex acoustic barrier would bound the north, west and south sides, with a three-metre high vegetated green wall to the south-east.

The applicant said the current state of the multi-storey carpark was underutilised and had become an environment for vagrancy, crime and anti-social behaviour.
