Six cars torched in arson spree

Liam Ducey, Stirling TimesStirling Times

By 2am his ute was a write-off along with four other cars in the Karrinyup area. It was one of six cars, with one on the Scarborough side of Deanmore Road, that were set on fire in a devastating three-hour spree that started at 11.15pm on Sunday, May 26, and caused damage of between $30,000 and $50,000.

The previous Sunday, a Nissan Pathfinder and a caravan were also set alight in the same area, and the arson squad are investigating a link between the two.

The investigation continues, but that is cold comfort for 20-year-old Mr Gleeson, as the agricultural mechanic did not have his vehicle insured.
