Kate LeaverStirling Times

SCARBOROUGH is the latest suburb to have a spate of tyre slashings with at least six incidents reported to police this month.

Scarborough Police acting officer-in-charge Cris Marzo said three cars from the same block of Reserve Street units were targeted.

“We received a report on April 9 about three cars from the same units,” he said.

“The incident appears to have happened overnight April 8 and was reported the next day.”

Sergeant Marzo said another report was made on April 9 about two cars with tyres slashed at a West Coast Highway block of units.

Community crime Facebook page Perth WA Crime Reports posted a series of CCTV images of an alleged offender “walking with a knife” who slashed tyres at a property on Sackville Terrace in Scarborough on April 21.

“A man walking with a knife has slashed our car tyre and also four of our neighbours has their tyres stabbed,” the post said.

“Please share and help identify this person to police.”

Sgt Marzo said police had only received information on April 26 that one car had been targeted on Sackville Terrace despite the four cars mentioned in the Facebook post.

“The report states four vehicles had their tyres slashed however only one was reported which included CCTV footage being supplied,” he said.

“I would encourage people to report incidents like this and let us know if they have any CCTV footage so we can circulate it to Crime Stoppers and other policing teams as soon as possible,” he said.

“As popular as this website may be, not everyone looks at it so make sure to tell police if you have CCTV images.

“There was no report made on April 21 about CCTV footage.”

Sgt Marzo could not confirm if the incidents in Fremantle were linked.
