Mr Hamel-Smith, who started pool and spa care franchise Poolwerx Balcatta after emigrating from Trinidad with his family in 2006, was awarded for his technical excellence, openness to sharing his expertise with clients and eagerness to learn new skills.

‘I’m absolutely delighted to receive this award and be recognised ahead of my industry peers,’ Mr Hamel-Smith said.

‘There’s more to pool care than water balance; it’s about keeping abreast of new legislation and educating pool owners about new pool care technology that can significantly reduce their operation costs.’
