St John of God opens Carine specialist centre

Staff WriterStirling Times

ST John of God has opened a specialist centre in Carine to give northern suburbs residents access to specialists closer to home.

More than 30 specialists who provide hospital care at St John of God’s Subiaco or Mt Lawley hospitals are available for patient consultations at the Gemstone Boulevard centre, which opened on November 5.

Some of their services include general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, bariatric and vascular surgery.

Chief executive Shirley Bowen said that the motivation to open the service was to improve the patient experience.

“In opening the St John of God Carine Specialist Centre we can now offer patients in this region a much more convenient option for being seen to by specialists from both hospitals,” she said.

Mt Lawley acting chief executive Vanessa Unwin said she hoped that the location and facilities of the service, combined with the expertise of its specialists, would serve the local community well.

Patients can ask their general practitioner (GP) for a referral to see one of the centre’s experienced specialists and view their profile online.
