ST Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School students will take to the stage this week to perform the musical, Oliver!, the classic tale of an innocent orphan living amongst double-dealing thieves in Victorian London.

Year 11 student Anne Jovanoski, will perform the lead role of Oliver and the stage will be filled with familiar songs including: You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two, Consider Yourself and Where is Love?.

St Mary’s head of drama and dance Kathryn Shaw, who directed the show, said the production was a combination of workhouse cheek, old-fashioned camaraderie and suspense.

“I am so proud of how the girls have worked together to bring this iconic story to life,” she said.

“They have taken risks, unveiled their creativity and will, without a doubt, flourish in the spotlight.”

The performance is suitable for all ages.
