Stirling: Detours for cyclists using freeway PSP

Laura PondStirling Times

CYCLISTS travelling into the City face detours in Stirling.

The principal shared path (PSP) running east of the Mitchell Freeway between Telford Crescent and Hutton Street will close from February until October.

Cyclists and pedestrians will instead need to follow detours along residential streets.

The closure is part of the freeway southbound widening project and will enable construction of a PSP underpass at the Hutton Street freeway exit ramp.

According to Main Roads, the detour was the safest option to separate path users from construction works and there would be signs in place directing the temporary route.

Drivers using Telford Crescent, Pompei Crescent, Calabria Way and Potenza Avenue, along with residents on these roads, are urged to look out for cyclists at all times, slow down when passing, take extra care entering and exiting driveways and avoid obstructing footpaths with rubbish bins on collection days.

The project will provide a new PSP from Glendalough Station to Hutton Street, with two underpasses at Hutton Street and a bridge over Scarborough Beach Road.
