A DRUG prevention group has received a funding boost.

The Federal Government and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation will provide an additional $25,000 to the Stirling Local Drug Action Team.

The team was given an initial $10,000 Federal grant. It comprises 26 organisations, including the Department for Child Protection, Cyrenian House, School Drug Education and Road Awareness and Mirrabooka Police.

It aims to promote connections to community and positive mental health amongst young men and families, with an emphasis on supporting culturally and ;inguistically diverse communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Foundation WA manager Greg Williams said it played a key role in preventing harm from alcohol and other drugs in the local area.

“The additional funding gives further support to the Stirling Local Drug Action Team to deliver alcohol and other drug harm prevention projects tailored to the needs of the local community,” he said.

“Developing and delivering local solutions is vital in addressing harms from alcohol and other drugs, including crystal methamphetamine (ice).”
