Stirling: Mitchell Freeway widening works extend north

Laura PondStirling Times

DRIVERS can expect more short-term pain as road works to widen the Mitchell Freeway extend north.

Reduced speed limits and lane realignments have been in place on the freeway southbound between Hutton and Vincent streets since late November, and will stretch to Karrinyup Road from Thursday.

The temporary southbound lane realignment will be in place until the end of the year to enable construction of an additional freeway lane between Cedric and Vincent streets.

There are also lane closures and speed reductions nightly from 8pm to 4am until January 23 between Karrinyup and Powis Street.

The $40 million project is expected to finish in late 2019 and includes construction of a principal shared path from Hutton Street to Glendalough Station and two underpasses.
