Stirling residents facing fines if firebreaks not in place

Kate LeaverStirling Times

STIRLING residents could face $5000 fines if they fail to clear firebreaks at their homes by the end of the month.

The City of Stirling recently changed the annual firebreak requirements for the next two years, meaning landowners and occupiers with blocks less than 2000sq m have the option to remove flammable vegetation or install a 3m-wide firebreak.

Properties bigger than 2000sq m must have a continuous firebreak of 3m and maintain them until March 31 next year.
