THE past year was big for The Stirling Times online; we broke some huge stories and also broke ground on the social media front.

Our top online stories tugged at the heartstrings, especially a story about a social housing resident who was forced to give up her beloved dog, which attracted many comments from our online readers.

Another story which struck a chord with the community was about Woodlands resident Kevin Wall, who was working desperately to get Australian citizenship and a seat on the nation’s Paralympic rowing team.

After The Stirling Times broke this story, it was followed by the ABC’s 7.30 Report, which attracted even more hits on our website.

Our Facebook followers appear to be environmentalists, as stories about wildlife, trees and conservation of Trigg dunes got the most likes, shares and comments.

The Stirling Times Facebook page has gone from strength to strength in 2015, bringing in 222 new likes.
