Entries were judged by 2013 Australian of the Year Ita Buttrose and Australian photographer Ken Duncan.
Photographers were asked to submit an image that depicted their appreciation of the gift of vision in order to raise awareness for macular degeneration.
Mr Barry, who is recognised as one of the world’s top ophthalmic photographers and works at the Lions Eye Institute in Nedlands, won the Healthcare Professional category.
‘As an ophthalmic photographer, we see every day the devastation caused by loss of vision by age related macular degeneration,’ Mr Barry said.
‘Photography helps us to appreciate the visual world around us, which is not always available to others.’
Mr Barry has also been named Professional Photographer of the Year with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography four times.
