THE annual Summerset Arts Festival has been named a finalist in the National Finalist in the 2016 Australian Event Awards.
The Australian Event Awards recognises the best events in Australia and achievements in the industry by Australians around the world, regardless of event size or audience.
The City of Stirling festival has been running for eight years with the Sunset Veranda serving as a Fringe World Venue – and named best independent venue last year.
Stirling marketing and communication manager Meriel Pickering said the event attracted more than 30,000 people.
“It attracts 30,000 plus patrons to 50 events throughout the City of Stirling across 17 days,” she said.
“Jam packed with music, comedy, circus, theatre, art, children’s activities and more, the festival catered for everyone – transforming parks, buildings and neighbourhoods into pop-up venues, creative spaces and hubs of activity.”
The Summerset Arts Festival is also nominated for Australia’s Favourite Event, which will be decided by vote of the Australian public once voting opens on August 25.
The festival will be held again in January and February 2017.
