Summerset Arts Festival gets under way in Scarborough

Laura PondStirling Times

FAIRIES are some of the performers bringing their magic to Scarborough for the Summerset Arts Festival.

The annual City of Stirling event launches tonight with the free Seaside Spectacular show from 6.30pm to celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary.

Scarborough Beach amphitheatre will come alive with amazing aerial acrobats and trance-inducing mermaids, accompanied by international jazz harpist Michelle Smith. Pop-up venue the Sunset Veranda opens at Brighton Reserve on Thursday night, offering a great place to enjoy live music, a drink and something to eat while watching the sun set.

The festival continues until February 11 and features a variety of events throughout the City, from circus, comedy and cabaret shows to cultural workshops, art exhibitions and a free concert on February 10 featuring Harts and The Vanns.
