SCARBOROUGH swimwear designer Nicola Spicer says she is honoured and excited to present her label Zingiber at the inaugural Telstra Perth Fashion Festival 2014 Swim and Resort Series next month.
The 30-year-old, who has been designing for a while but only started the label a few months ago, will take part in the summer event alongside local labels Amore and Sorvete, Gypsea, Bikini Atoll, FELLA Swim, PALM Swimwear, Zingiber, Natalie Rolt Swim and Rue Stiic.
Spicer said having showcased her designs over east before she was excited to be part of a swimwear event in Perth.
‘As a local Perth designer it means a lot,’ she said.
‘Perth is the perfect spot to have this event, with its beautiful coastlines, lifestyle and talented designers.
‘I am also glad the Perth designers are getting some exposure without travelling for miles and having a show like this will put us on a greater platform nationally and internationally.’
The designer, whose collection El Niño will make an appearance on the runway for the first time, said she loved the simplicity of swimwear and the challenge of making a standout swimsuit out of a small piece of material.
‘The lifestyle based around swimwear reminds me of holidays and beautiful sunny days,’ she said. ‘Also, living in Perth on this beautiful coastline just goes hand in hand into design swimwear.’
The event is at the Perth Royal Yacht Club on December 14 and will feature an eight capsule runway show, including the latest swim and resort trends for this summer season.
