FORMER Hale School student Matthew Ebden has defected from Wembley Downs Tennis Club to join WA State League winners Mosman Park.
Ebden, who was made an honorary member of Wembley Downs earlier this year, helped his new club come away as the strongest team in WA State League history after a win against Cottesloe on the weekend at the State League match. The Davis Cup player returned to the court after a knee injury kept him sidelined for most of the year, playing alongside teammates world number nine John Peers, Brydan Klein and Gavin Van Peperzeel.
Mosman Park were crowned champions after the 6-0 win.
Tennis West chief executive Michael Roberts said the match was huge for WA tennis.
