The Bend in the Road green initiative aims to add colour to Doubleview street

A SPLASH of green aims to liven up a stretch of Doubleview road.

Community group The Bend in the Road has installed three planter boxes outside businesses on Scarborough Beach Road between Flamborough and Herbert streets.

Chairman David Wray said they worked with local businesses on several ideas before settling on the boxes.

“We hope the addition of greenery and seating will send a visual signal to drivers to slow down, you’re driving through a restaurant area, and also provide a place for all people to sit and relax as they make their way along the strip,” he said.

Councillor Stephanie Proud said group members designed, commissioned and installed the boxes with help from a City of Stirling place activation grant.

“The finished products are just so attractive and welcoming – a testament to community coming together and the continuing work of The Bend,” she said.
