Inglewood artist Jade Dolman painted an eight-metre long mural representing Nyoongar culture, six circles with each representing one of the six Nyoongar seasons and 50 handprints from children and school staff.
“In the foreground I have featured the Waugal, or Rainbow Serpent,” she said.
“According to Aboriginal beliefs, before the Waugal existed the land was flat, cold and colourless and as the Waugal came down from the sky it created the waterways and hills.”
Principal Emelinda Stephen said the school received a grant from the Department of Aboriginal Affairs to help meet the costs of the project and the City of Stirling rebuilt the old wall.

“In total 15 different nationalities from five different continents were present during the inauguration and celebrations yesterday, with the students and some of their parents wearing their country’s national costume,” she said.
“The artist has done a remarkable job and the results can now be seen from the school grounds as well as from the street.”
