The force is strong in Innaloo at Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiere

THOUSANDS of Star Wars fans stayed up well past midnight Wednesday to be the first to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Event Cinemas Innaloo played the film on each of its 16 screens for the big night.

Attendees dressed as their favourite characters and got photos with the outdoor interactive wall mural – inspired by the movie – painted by Perth artist Steve Browne, and BB-8.

One Perth fan wore a Chewbacca costume more than 6ft tall, which was partially handmade.

The film has already received glowing reviews, has a 93 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes website and is appearing on top 10 Best Films of 2017 lists.

It is expected to make more than $200 million in its opening weekend.
