The Square Mirrabooka to extend shopping hours in lead up to Xmas

Belinda CiprianoStirling Times

THE Square Mirrabooka is among the many shopping centres set to increase trading hours this Christmas.

From Monday, December 5, weekday retail trading will be extended by one hour with general retail shops in the Perth metropolitan area allowed to open at 7am instead of 8am until Tuesday, January 3, 2017, when normal hours resume.

Perron Group property investments general manager Andrew Byars said it supported deregulation of trading hours to provide customers with more choice as to when they can shop.

“It’s a positive for retailers, giving them the opportunity to open when customers would like to shop,” he said.

“If further deregulated shopping hours are introduced, the centre will be open for all possible trading hours.

“We see it as a positive for working families and busy people, giving them extra time to shop.”

Major shops will remain closed for Christmas Day.

Four extra hours of shopping have also been approved for the Australia Day public holiday on January 26, with general retail shops allowed to open from 8am to 6pm.
