Thieves targeting tradies’ power tools in Stirling

TRADIES’ power tools continue to be targeted by thieves in the Stirling area.

Scarborough officer in charge Senior Sergeant Glenn Dowding said the recent trend of power tool thefts had continued across nine suburbs.

“Usually the back of tradies utes will be targeted, and this issue is quite widespread across many suburbs,” Sgt Dowding said.

“This issue is across nine suburbs so it is difficult to pinpoint who is responsible and if it is the same individuals.

“We encourage people to engrave expensive tools and also check Gumtree and notify us if they see any of their tools on the website for sale.”

Two thefts of a grinder and power tools occurred in Karrinyup overnight on September 12-13.

“Often tradies will not record the serial number of the tools they purchase so we encourage people to do this as soon as they buy them.

“Stealing from the back of utes is an easy target for thieves because they are often parked on building sites and verges.”
