THE Scarborough Beach redevelopment has won an Urban Development Industry Association WA Award for Excellence.
The $100 million project by the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA) and City of Stirling received top honours in the Government and Public Use category.
Judges praised the delivery of seven public amenities, extensive public consultation and described it as a “catalyst for further residential and commercial development in the area” and “a blueprint for the future”.
Perth’s Yagan Square, another MRA project, won the award for Excellence in Urban Renewal.
It was recognised for collaboration with the Noongar community and helping to reconnect Perth CBD and Northbridge.
Planning Minister Rita Saffioti said Yagan Square was a quintessential WA destination.
“This award acknowledges the success of early, meaningful and proactive engagement,” she said.
“Yagan Square embodies the true spirit of reconciliation and is a place that will be enjoyed by people of all ages for generations to come.”
