THE Scarborough Beach redevelopment has won an Urban Development Industry Association WA Award for Excellence.

The $100 million project by the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA) and City of Stirling received top honours in the Government and Public Use category.

Perth’s Yagan Square, another MRA project, won the award for Excellence in Urban Renewal.

It was recognised for collaboration with the Noongar community and helping to reconnect Perth CBD and Northbridge.

Planning Minister Rita Saffioti said Yagan Square was a quintessential WA destination.

“This award acknowledges the success of early, meaningful and proactive engagement,” she said.

“Yagan Square embodies the true spirit of reconciliation and is a place that will be enjoyed by people of all ages for generations to come.”
