JAPANESE fashion store Uniqlo is headed to Karrinyup.

AMP Capital today announced the global retailer would open at Karrinyup Shopping Centre in July as part of its $800 million redevelopment.

It will become Uniqlo’s third Perth store, with existing locations in the CBD and at Westfield Carousel.

AMP Capital spokesman Scott Nugent said it aimed to help position Karrinyup as a leading fashion and lifestyle destination.

“We are looking forward to building on our already strong fashion mix with Uniqlo and delivering a world-class shopping experience for our customers,” he said.

Uniqlo Australia chief operating officer Kensuke Suwa said the move showed confidence in the WA market.

“We are excited to be making our range of LifeWear clothing more easily accessible to Australians in the area and are looking forward to fostering local talent as well as becoming a key part of the community,” he said.

The store will open in the centre’s redeveloped fashion loop, where H&M, Swarovski and an expanded Mecca opened in November.

The redevelopment is on track for completion at the end of 2021.
