Kristie LimStirling Times

FOUR Karrinyup students have launched their own literacy app after competing in the 2015 Search for Next Tech Girl Superhero competition.

Year 11 students Teale Lyon, Kira Molloy, Alice Dolphin and Delaney Eastabrook from St Mary’s Anglican Girls School reached the WA State finals with Vocabulary Voyagers.

The app targeted primary school students, with the aim to extend vocabulary and improve reading comprehension through fun learning games.

Team coach Michelle Fitzpatrick said she was proud of their achievements.

“With continued dedication as a co-curricular pursuit, the team now has a viable entrepreneurial solution to a real community issue,” Mrs Fitzpatrick said.

“I’ve been lucky to work with such an inspirational group of girls and how exciting it would be if they became our future leaders in technology.”

The development of an upgraded Pro version is underway.
