A MAN has faced court charged with manslaughter over the disappearance of a teenage girl in Perth almost 30 years ago.
Radina Djukich, 14, vanished in May 1992 after leaving her home in North Beach and her remains have never been found.
Ronald Joseph Buckland, 69, appeared briefly in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday via video link from Casuarina Prison.
He is accused of injecting a substance that caused Radina’s death, then burying her body in a bush grave.
Buckland was remanded in custody until his appearance in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on March 27.
Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Gary Budge told reporters on Thursday the cold case progressed when some information came to police more than one year ago.
But he urged anyone who may still be withholding information to come forward, even anonymously.
“Friendships and acquaintances change and there may be someone out there who has some information,” Mr Budge said.
There have been unsuccessful attempts in the past to find Radina’s remains but there are no plans to search again.
