HALE School old boy Hans Bruechle remembers handing out canapes at school art exhibitions as a student. He recently returned to paint a two-storey mural at the school.
The street art mural entitled The search for inspiration took four days to complete as part of the 25th anniversary of Hale’s Fine Art Exhibition and will be a permanent fixture on a middle school building.
Mr Bruechle said it was exciting to be back at school to paint the mural and get feedback from current students.
“I remember being 17 and seeing one of (Perth street artist) Stormie Mills’ works in the show here. I recently posted on social media about it and this mural, and he sent me a message of congratulations. That was really cool,” he said.
“I fell into art; I’m now working on many different mediums, everything from wall murals, canvases to skate boards and even a line of hockey sticks and motor cycle helmets.”
The 2003 graduate said the mural represented all the programs on offer at the school and depicted a character searching for a “light bulb moment of inspiration”.
