CITY of Stirling shoppers can do their part for this year’s Food Bank drive to help the estimated 7000 West Australians turned away from charities empty handed.

Food Bank WA will have donation points at Westfield Innaloo shopping centre where shoppers are encouraged to donate canned foods and non-perishable goods.

Food Bank chief executive Greg Hebble said the need for food was year round.

“Spring can be a particularly challenging time for us as we have fewer food drives and donations, making it harder to meet the ever-present demand for food throughout the state,” he said.

Mr Hebble said the organisation helped feed 53,000 West Australians per month and last year provided 6 million meals throughout the state.

The Westfield Innaloo food drive will run from September 1 to 30.

Collection boxes are placed in front of Coles.
