POLICE are looking for witnesses to an alleged hit and run of an elderly couple in Karrinyup.

A 91-year-old man and 89-year-old woman were taken to hospital with serious injuries following the crash, which happened in the Karrinyup Shopping Centre carpark on Friday at about 12.15pm.

Police believe the driver of a silver Toyota Rav 4 was trawling for an available parking space, near the centre’s taxi lounge area, when they stopped and reversed into the couple who were crossing from the centre into the carpark.

The vehicle collided with the two pedestrians but allegedly left the scene.

The couple were taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where the man was treated for a fractured hip.

Major Crash Investigation officers want to hear from anyone who saw the crash or the car prior to the collision, has dashcam footage or any information.

Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online.
