Woman charged in relation to alleged violent bag snatch which injured elderly woman

A 25-year-old woman has been charged following an alleged violent bag snatch incident which injured an 87-year-old woman in Glendalough at the weekend (Sunday, October 28).

Mirrabooka Detectives charged the Mount Claremont woman in relation to the incident on Cayley Street near the Glendalough train station.

Police claim the offender walked up to the victim and grabbed her handbag about 12.15pm.

The victim was hospitalised after she was thrown to the ground which caused lacerations, grazing and bruising to her body, police said.

Police attended a short time later and their investigation led to the arrest of the 25-year-old woman a few hours after the incident.

The woman has been charged with aggravated robbery and she is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today (October 29).
