Woman stabbed with scissors in ‘unprovoked’ attack

A WOMAN was stabbed with a pair of scissors in a terrifying unprovoked attack at a Perth beach.

A 15-year-old girl allegedly lunged at the victim, stabbing her in the side and puncturing her lung.

Police said a 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were walking toward their car on Scarborough Beach Road when the incident unfolded.

The teenager, who was armed with scissors, allegedly threatened to stab both the victims before lunging at the woman and stabbing her.

Police said the woman also had several smaller wounds on her arm.

A spokeswoman for WA Police said it was alleged the 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl who was with her, then assaulted both victims.

The man was stabbed on the wrist causing potential tendon damage.

Both victims were taken to hospital by ambulance.

WA Police said Mirrabooka Detectives had charged two female juveniles after an incident on the Scarborough Foreshore on Saturday.

“It is alleged in an unprovoked attacked, a 15-year-old girl who was armed with scissors, threatened to stab both the victims before lunging at the woman and stabbing her in the side which punctured her lung,” as spokeswoman for police said.

“It is further alleged the 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl who was with her, then assaulted both victims.

“The girls ran off when members of the public intervened and flagged down Operation Heat Shield officers who were patrolling nearby.

“The officers were able to respond quickly which enabled them to locate and arrest the offenders a short time later.”

A 15-year-old from Waterford and a 17-year-old from Midland were due to appear before Perth Children’s Court on Monday, each charged with two counts each of intent to do grievous bodily harm.
