Woolworths part of Balcatta shopping centre plans

A WOOLWORTHS supermarket and BWS liquor store are proposed for Balcatta.

Trendsetter Homes has applied to build the Roselea Village shopping centre at the corner of Karrinyup Road and Grindleford Drive.

The proposal is for a Woolworths, BWS, specialty retail stores and a kiosk, which the applicant said was “the culmination of 30 months of engagement with the City of Stirling”.

Plans show parking and a pharmacy or other specialty store on the corner, with the supermarket and smaller retailers behind it on Grindleford Drive.

An additional carpark is planned behind the existing Stirling Lakes Medical Centre site.

The centre would be accessed by a planned road off Grindleford Drive parallel to Karrinyup Road and it would offer 300 parking bays on site.

The City is seeking feedback on the application as there is no approved structure plan for the area.

But the applicant said the development was in keeping with the “vision” for the area as the WA Planning Commission is currently considering the East Roselea Structure Plan, which would rezone the site from development to local centre.

Public comment is open until February 15.
