Youth restore garden

Staff ReporterStirling Times

Alison Druitt, who is on a disability pension, lovingly tends to her garden, but recently her plants were torn out and Mrs Druitt was without funds to replace them.

Mrs Druitt’s plight came to the attention of Mrs Harvey, who secured a $100 voucher from the Department of Housing to replace the plants.

After contacting charity organisation Australian Relief and Mercy Services, both Mrs Harvey and Mrs Druitt were extremely pleased when a group of Year 9 students from Southern Hills Christian College arrived at Mrs Druitt’s residence last Tuesday to help her reconstruct her garden.

Mrs Harvey said the students set an excellent example for other teenagers to follow.

‘Despite our best efforts, we were not able to source a voluntary group to assist Alison for some time,’ Mrs Harvey said. ‘So we are thrilled Australian Mercy was able to organise the Year 9 students from Southern Hills Christian College, who have so generously given their time to help Alison.’
