Bicycle repair station at Jim Clarko Reserve a waste of money

TONY LOVE, North BeachStirling Times

WHILST I understand the good intentions of the installation of a bicycle repair station at the northern end of the Jim Clarko Reserve, the practicality and function of it are absurd and another glaring example of more wasted ratepayers’ funds.

What repairs would anyone have to do to their bike that wouldn’t need to be done prior to leaving for a ride?

Alternately, if your bike breaks down whilst riding, what is the likelihood of you being close enough to walk to the facility to repair your bike?

Did the feasibility study of this facility (assuming there was one) consider the maintenance and long-term effects of being that close to the ocean?

I drive past the facility several times each day and am yet to see a single person using the repair station for urgent bike repairs.

I would be very interested to know what, if any, use is made of this facility, or is it already doomed and destined to be another ridiculous ratepayer-funded whim?
