TRAFFIC lights at Grand Promenade on Scarborough Beach Road were inevitable and long overdue.

This is a vibrant, main shopping and business precinct, with essentials such as supermarket, chemists, takeaways, newsagent and a plethora of affiliated enterprises that can only continue to expand.

But the downside is that Grand Promenade will become another ‘Duke Street’ with a high influx of traffic to the bane and chagrin of local residents.

Peeking into my crystal ball for fans of roundabouts, I can see a Grand Promenade roundabout on Sackville Terrace, sooner rather than later’
