Hawke comes full circle

On one occasion, he referred to a protesting age pensioner as a “silly old bugger”. Now perhaps the wheel has come full circle and Bob is a silly old bugger.

I mean, how could he recommend the other day that Australia become the repository for the world’s nuclear waste ” in other words our country not only taking in others’ dirty and dangerous rubbish, but in so doing implicitly endorsing nuclear power.

Like a typical politician, he seems to be looking at the foreseeable short-term future, not the thousands and tens of thousands of years that future generations hopefully will continue to inhabit both this country and the world.
