Mayor promises an exciting 2019 in City of Stirling

Mark IrwinStirling Times

THERE is a lot happening across the City this year and I’m excited about what 2019 will bring.

Our main focus this year will be on progressing and improving the many projects, services and initiatives we have underway, and connecting with our community.

2018 saw us deliver some great projects and outcomes, like the completion of the Scarborough redevelopment and pool, securing funding for the Stephenson Avenue extension and working with our community to get the Inglewood Monday Night Markets and Scarborough Beach Markets up and running – and we want to continue that trend.

We have a number of great community projects on the go, like the upgrade of the Princess Wallington Reserve in Balga, the upgrade of the Robinson Reserve in Osborne Park and the renovation of the Nollamara Football Club.

We also have plenty of great City and community run events coming up.

We’re really proud to be able to run and support events each year and you won’t be disappointed with the variety.

It all kicks off with the Sunset Veranda on January 18 and I hope to see you down there.

I’m also looking forward to seeing the developments in Karrinyup, Innaloo and Scarborough take shape.

I know it can be hard to see the bigger picture while preliminary works take place, but the benefits and opportunities these developments will bring will be worth the wait.

2019 is also an election year for Federal and Local Government, which always creates a bit of a buzz.

Locally, our focus will be on continuing to prioritise the community and service delivery during this time.

We’ll also continue campaigning for light rail to connect Scarborough Beach with the city – this remains one of our biggest priorities.

We’re lucky at Stirling to have such a diverse, involved and engaged community and I am looking forward to working with you and Council to make this year one of the best yet.
