Council minutes show that only three councillors had the foresight to vote in favour of an ocean pool at Scarborough: Elizabeth Re, Jason Robins and David Michael.

As a long-time resident of the City of Stirling, it is about time we had more options and wider use of swim areas so more can enjoy our land ‘girt by sea’.

Instead the council is wasting ratepayers’ money putting dual-use paths in very low traffic and wide road residential areas rather than near schools and shopping areas.

These paths are to encourage more people not in the area to connect to the freeway cycle path.

Notice of the installation of wasteful pathways in such areas was mailed to residents less than two weeks before work started and allowing no opportunity to be consulted.
