Opinion: Death penalty for violent repeat offenders

John Seotis, Osborne ParkStirling Times

VIOLENT recidivist offenders are committing violent crimes when not being detained (for example Bourke Street, Melbourne, January 20, 2017).

Repeat offenders that do not change their violent ways and take innocent lives should face the ultimate penalty like any other murder; no excuses, no exemptions. If you do not show mercy to your victim, why should society at large show you mercy?

We, the majority, should have the ultimate say on crime and punishment via a referendum.

After all, we are the ones being violently assaulted and murdered on our streets and in our homes.

This is majority rule as it should be. Anything else is minority rule, which is not a democratic state of affairs.
