Who are the victims?

Like drugs, alcohol, tobacco and gambling, sex with prostitutes could be classed as an addiction or at the very least compulsive behaviour.

However, who are the real victims here: the girls who are in this undignified profession or the men who spend a fortune on it?

One other concern is the widespread trafficking of young girls from various countries. Should the girls really be coerced into this?

If there is any integrity in the business, why is this continuing?

In addition, the government has a vested interest because more legitimacy means more taxation.

Argentine president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner recently banned classified newspaper adverts by sex workers. She said the measure represented “a giant step forward in the defence of women” and I am inclined to agree.

Ultimately, wouldn’t it be better if we males kept our money in our pockets, then met women who wanted us just for ourselves?
