Bodyboarding: Trigg teen rides to national under-18 trophy

TRIGG teenager Joel Hughan clinched the Big 4 Australian Bodyboard Titles under 18 competition this month in Tweed Heads.

The 15-year-old Hale School student snatched the victory from his New South Wales and Queensland competitors with 6.25pt and 4.20pt rides to best Grant Gardner (NSW),Liam Flanagan (NSW) and Jai Smith (QLD).

While the conditions were small but clean Hughan said it was a hard fought victory.

“I couldn’t believe it,” he said.

“Mum was really proud and all my mates were stoked.”

Hughan said he hope to travel the world, touring in the Pro junior world body boarding competition one day but for now his favourite spots were Trigg and the Mandurah Wedge.
