Cricket: Moldrich’s 5-fer sets up big T20 win for Balcatta

BALCATTA Cricket Club player Conor Moldrich produced amazing figures of 5-12 from his four overs in the fourth group match of the Twenty20 Div 1 competition against Whitfords on Sunday.

After losing the toss and being made to bowl first, Balcatta were ruthless, restricting Whitfords to 9-89 from its 20 overs.

The other four wickets were shared between James Sprague, Harry McManus and Jamie Rudrum.

Sprague and Giacoppo got the Cats off to a fantastic start, blasting a quick fire opening stand of 61, with the chase being completed in just the 14th over with eight wickets in hand.

Sprague hammered 44 from just 30 deliveries, with Giacoppo remaining not out on 29 from 31 deliveries.

The win now means the side will clinch a spot in the finals if it defeats Ocean Ridge on January 15.
