SCARBOROUGH pulled off a miraculous upset on Saturday against Bayswater Morley, chasing down 251 on day 2 off the back of Josh Philippe’s unbeaten century at Hillcrest Lower.
Starting the day at 1-5, Scarborough lost Cody Rose at 2-16 to make the task ahead all the more difficult.
However, Samuel Moylan and Nicholas Maiolo found their rhythm and steadied the ship for the Gulls, scoring 60 runs during their third-wicket partnership.
Following the loss of Moylan at 3-76 after an extremely hard-fought 44, Josh Philippe then came to the crease and immediately found the boundary.
Phillipe and Maiolo pushed the score to 117 with a 41-run partnership before Maiolo was trapped in front on 48.
At 4-117, Bears bowler Liam O’Connor found his range with the ball, taking out Liam Knight and Sean Strachan in quick succession to have the Gulls struggling on 6-124.
With another defeat looming, Philippe and captain Andrew Rule dug deep to put on a match-winning partnership. The dynamic duo scored 129 during their seventh-wicket stand to run out four-wicket winners after chasing down the Bears’ 251.
