Liza ready to take plunge at champs

The up-and-coming diver was recently chosen to represent WA at the School Sport Australian National Championships.

It is the second time the 14-year-old has been chosen to represent the State after competing in the same event last year and earning a personal best. This year, the St Mary’s Anglican Girls School student is hoping to go one better.

‘I’ve had a slow build-up and have just been focusing on improving my strength so that I can do more,’ she said.

‘It’s something that I really enjoy doing.’

Arrows Diving Academy coach Mike Tinley said Liza was one of 10 students from the school to be selected to represent WA.

‘We started off three years ago with two kids attending,’ he said.

‘Last year we had six, now we have 10.

‘We are really keen to encourage the event and help kids continue competing.’
